Bravo! Partners With World’s No. 1-Ranked Dock Diving Dog

Bravo!, manufacturers of the Bravo! line of fresh frozen raw diet products, has signed a sponsorship agreement with the world’s No. 1-ranked dock diving dog Pico “The Incredible Flying Picoroni,” who begins her quest for a third consecutive title on July 30. With this agreement, Pico also becomes the first member of Team Bravo!

According to her owner Anna Balsamo, Pico’s diet is extremely important, as dock diving puts tremendous stress on her body. Dock diving requires the dog to explode to full speed from a sit position, run down the dock as fast as possible (speed is crucial for distance), and push off with full force. While flying through the air, the dog is making adjustments with their back and abdominal muscles to extend the jump to full distance.

“Raw meats are the best source for providing Pico with the protein she needs to maintain the muscle necessary for succeeding in dock diving, as well as protecting her joints and spine from injury,” Balsamo said. “Pico eats Bravo! exclusively, as its ingredients are of a much higher quality than any other raw diet out there. The variety that Bravo offers is also extremely important for Pico, as different meat contains different amino acid profiles and nutrients needed for covering all of her bases. A proper diet rich in protein without grains or fillers builds overall muscle mass, joint strength and allows her to recover quickly between jumps. A quick recovery matters when the outcome is determined over multiple jumps.”

Dock Diving is a thrilling, spectator-friendly sport in which dogs compete in jumping distance or height from a dock into a body of water. The five-year-old Belgian Tervuren, has taken top honors in 2007 and 2008, recording her personal best jumps of 27 feet 10 inches and 28 feet and 2 inches respectively.

Both Pico and Anna have that Bravo ‘can do‘ attitude and their love for each other and teamwork make them ideal members for Team Bravo! We’ll be cheering for them regardless of the outcome,” said Dave Bogner, Bravo! owner and co-founder.

Pico and her owner Anna Balsamo are based in Mamaroneck, NY, where Balsamo manages a small therapeutic farm and riding program for the developmentally disabled.

Team Bravo! is a specially-selected group of dog-and-people duos who possess a “can do” attitude in all aspects of life, family, work, sport and play. Pico and Anna are joined by Peggy Helming and Josh, the Newfoundland who was Best in Show at the 2004 Westminster Kennel Club.
